Invaded with the Lottery Fever

Lines were longer and the stakes increases. Filipinos go crazy for the Lotto jackpot which costs around Php 700,000,000. Who would not be tempted to stake even one? Even though the combinations for the 6/55 can be millions, others still try their luck for the jackpot. It's like the moon waiting for the sun to come back and be together. But nobody can blame them considering the poor state of our country. So they go for something INSTANT.

Every night when I hear news, one episode of a news program won't end without any updates for the yesterday's results or the current amount of the jackpot prize. You can see how the long line can make a crowd along with the reporter, waving their hands with their tickets. Looking deeply in our economic stability, we became desperate for high living. We want to escape this life full of sickening small daily budgets for our needs. The belt is trully tight and we're tired of these.

The prize is indeed a life-changer. Imagine how will your sardines transform into steamed tuna, and your instant noodles into luxurious foreign noodles. But that is how Filipinos are. We are wanderers of luck. As I've said, generally, we go for something instant. Why don't we stretch our muscles and strive hard? The feeling of earning money after a hard work is so awesome, isn't it? We must not depend on this thing. We are not handicapped. We can do something. This country wouldn't progress if everyone injects in their narrow brains that lotto can progress our lives.

Right now, my mom wants to have a stake. She was induced with the lotto fever. Oh please, when will Filipinos learn? I respect them buying tickets for these but I think this is too much. Money blinded them. Philippines, we have faced so much trials. Please strive hard, join me. Go for money made from hard work.

The 25th Year

Life at this point is where you set your objectives to a specific goal - how to live at your own. During my elementary days, I always thought that working at offices is easier than schooling. Imagining that after work, you just have to change clothes, eat dinner, and let your wife in the future wash the dishes while you watch TV sitting on your cozy sofa. Yeah MAYBE it would happen but you have to work so hard. So I have plans for myself and I have big dreams to grab up above as early as today.

After graduating college, I would take the board exam for the course I took. If I successfully passed the exam, I will find good jobs at the metro for experience. Once I earn enough money for myself, I will hire laundry women and maids maybe ready to serve them. Trustworthy people, I prefer. So everyday I'll be calling them if there are any problems in order to fulfill what they need.

Some time after, I'll find my novia and probably, she will be my wife. I see myself with her raising children in a beautiful yet simple house of ours. Speaking of houses, I want to have a simple one. I don't want a luxurious house where you need to hike going to your son's bedroom or to eat some snacks at midnight. It can be a 2-story house that has the space enough for my family. I want to have a big lawn though. Every time I think of this, I feel excitement.Still there is fear for I can't read what's ahead of me.

I really want to bring my families (wife, kids, parents) to the United States of America. I am not that kind of person who can change a nation with his might so I'll just go to other places. Personally, other people are doing their best to earn money the RIGHT way but others are floating on money of the others. PARASITES. They should have been beheaded a long time ago. My parents went to USA and stored in a lot of good stories to tell.

Well, these are just only dreams in my mind. I don't know if time will permit these to happen. Well, I hope so. Now, all I can do is to study well and prepare myself for years of independence and striving.

Divine Comedy hit me not once, but thrice

Crime equates with punishment. For every negative thing you do, there is an alloted consequence for it. As the one of the laws of science says, "For every action, there is a reaction." The Divine Comedy portrays the world unseen by the living. The world divided generally into two, to suffer or to claim the prize of everlasting life of happiness.

Inferno was a big no for me. Souls suffer for their deeds on Earth endlessly. Dante's description of Inferno was so vivid and violent. No man would even dare to enter it. Personally, Inferno made me aware of the things I'm doing above the ground. Seriously, every time I did a bad thing, Inferno appears in my mind. I'm aware that this deed would force me to go to this specific circle. Goodness, Dante was sent from above for us to repent as early as we can. Inferno hit the right spot.

Later on in Purgatario, the story calms down a bit. One thing that stroke me most is those souls who repented for their sins before they die shall arrive at Purgatorio. Funny as it is, deep within my mind I say, "If I would die, before my last breath, I will repent for my sins so my soul won't crash at the depth of hell." Purgatorio compared to my grades, is a passing grade but still nearly failing. Maybe 85. I have a chance for my soul to be cleansed. Purgatorio brings out hope for us, sinners. From this part of Divine Comedy, I see some light from above.

Paradiso casted out intense light. I saw the bright side of the story. Such divinity I saw when Dante portrays his version of Heaven. After Dante saw God as an image with three bright circles, I realized that it would the greatest thing on this life if you see God in person. It would be a everlasting goal to see God and to be with Him in His paradise. Still, it's hard to do this.

This would be my greatest lesson learned in his work of art, "God didn't say following Him was easy. It's just that, it would be worth it."
