Pop Music: A World of Competition

Informal Theme #
Blog # 2

Entertainment industry breeds talents and treats them sons and daughters, but when it is showtime, they let them fight for fame.

Filipinos go crazy for BigBang, Super Junior, SNSD, and other Korean Pop (K-POP) groups. Their perfect eyes, appealing smiles, and awesome dance routines make us be their top fans as we watch their music videos. We searched and dig videos in youtube and other fan sites to know their birthday, favorite color, and favorite food. They built an icon, as I would describe it. But we Filipinos can do it as well, right?

As far as I know, Im Yoona (임윤아), member of the raging all-girl group SNSD, trained under a korean entertainment company for six years before being exposed to Korea's national television. Our entertainment industry can do it as well as long as they extract almost every skill their talents have. We, Filipinos are talented individuals. We can excel in such aspects that we outstand other countries. Philippines is not a copycat and  we can make our own identity.

Pop Girls and XLR8 were the one who introduced P-POP ( Philippine Pop). Unexpected for me but it is a good thing to try this kind of genre. Although we excel in different kind of music like slow and calm, it is not bad to experiment things. Maybe it would be new and unusual to hear P-POP music, but maybe we'll get use to it.

Still, we already built an image which is our precious balladeers and acoustic singers. It includes, Christian Bautista, Nina, and Juris. We have the world-renowned Lea Salonga where every Filipino is proud of her. We have as well our divas namely Bituin Escalante, Jaya, Regine Velasquez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, and a whole lot more. They make us proud of our country, don't they?

I can't blame some of my fellow Filipinos for them not to be proud of where they are born and what are we showing upon the world. There is corruption, slow progression, and other things that is possessed by our country that negates our individuality. These teenagers having an average height, who wouldn't stop texting till their thumbs drop can be proud of their country if we will improve a LOT.

One thing I noticed at Korea is that they are not ashamed of what their language is. They ride the plane of innovation along with their culture and language. Even they are one of the progressive countries in the world, they are proud of it. With these, they improve in different fields including the entertainment industry.

Someday, Philippines will stand up loud and proud to be the Pearl of the Orient. We will be proud of our P-POP groups roaming around the globe for their fans and we will be the home of the finest talents craved by the whole world.
